Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy is designed to increase the individual’s ability to perform the skills necessary to lead an independent and productive life.

Patients of RWJ occupational therapy can include those with physical impairments and disabilities, developmental disabilities and delays, and psychosocial disabilities. Treatment may consist of activities to strengthen and mobilize the upper body, activities to improve coordination and increase fine-motor dexterity, education in joint protection and energy conservation, and training in the performance of daily living skills.

Patients are trained in the use of compensatory techniques and adaptive equipment to help them increase their independence and safety with daily living and community integration.

Standard testing, objective measurement and clinical observation, in conjunction with client and family input, enable our therapists to develop effective individualized treatment programs.

RWJ occupational therapy services include:

  • Hand therapy
  • Orthopedics
